Number of pages: 9

ABSTRACT:
This 9 page paper discusses the contributions of Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The writer recounts Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat on the bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955 and also explains the segregation laws concerning the buses in Montgomery. A small group of black women then distributed flyers asking blacks not to use the bus on the following Monday. A new committee was formed with a relatively new resident of the city as its leader - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The writer then recounts some of King's remarkable work and achievements on behalf of the civil rights movement.
